My Work at Moorside Rangers and Manchester United Foundation

Moorside Rangers U15 teams

I currently coach two U15 teams at Moorside Rangers.

The Saturday team is a group I’ve had the privilege of coaching since they were under 7s—we’ve grown together season by season, building strong bonds, trust, and a real sense of team identity.

The Sunday team was formed more recently by my son and his school friends, who asked me to coach them last season. It’s been a joy to support their passion and help shape a team driven by friendship, fun, and a love for the game.

Both teams reflect what I value most in coaching—development, connection, and creating spaces where young people can thrive.

Moorside Rangers Down Syndrome teams

Since 2021, I’ve had the honour of coaching football sessions for players with Down syndrome, supporting an incredible group of individuals aged from 4 to 45.

These sessions are about far more than football—they’re about joy, inclusion, confidence, and community.

I design and deliver sessions tailored to a wide range of abilities and needs, making sure every player feels seen, supported, and celebrated. It’s a space where players can express themselves freely, build friendships, and experience the pure enjoyment of the game.

Coaching these teams has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, reminding me constantly of the power of sport to unite, uplift, and make a lasting difference.

Youth Development

As Youth Development Officer at Moorside Rangers, I’m responsible for shaping the long-term vision and structure of our youth football programme.

My role is focused on creating a clear, supportive pathway for players of all ages and abilities—ensuring they have the right environment, coaching, and opportunities to grow both on and off the pitch.

I work closely with coaches, parents, and club leadership to align our approach across age groups, develop coaching standards, and ensure every child has a positive, consistent experience.

From onboarding new players to designing progression frameworks and safeguarding wellbeing, I bring a service design mindset to everything I do—always putting people at the centre.

My goal is simple: to help every young player fall in love with the game, reach their potential, and feel part of something bigger.

Manchester United Foundation Head Coach

I have the privilege of using football as a tool to create positive change in young people’s lives. The Street Reds programme provides free, inclusive sessions in local communities, offering a safe space for young people to play, grow, and belong.

This role is deeply personal to me—it aligns perfectly with my belief that football can be a powerful force for social good. Through coaching, mentorship, and building trusted relationships, I help young people develop not just technical skills, but confidence, respect, teamwork, and resilience.

What excites me most is how this work mirrors my purpose as a service designer: creating meaningful, human-centred experiences that leave a lasting impact. Whether I’m designing a training session or a digital journey, my goal is the same—to meet people where they are, understand their needs, and build something that truly matters.

Street Reds is more than football. It’s community, empowerment, and purpose—and I’m proud to play a part in it.
